How does it feel to be turned down when you are desperate to have a job? In a very competitive job market these days, we should accept that we will not always be winners and thus, could be turned down by some employers even though we feel that we are qualified to do the job.
It is but normal to feel frustrated or disappointed but that is the reality that we should accept. However, most companies keep an active profile of its applicants for possible reconsideration for job openings in the future. So it is extremely important that we still leave a good impression to employers although they turned us down saying that “your qualifications are impressive but unfortunately we do not have an available position that suits your background.”
We are applicants and we are not in the position to dictate – but employers do. We should keep an open mind and continue to be professional despite challenges and frustrations that most job seekers would experience these days.
But this is not always the case. Some applicants are just so frustrated for not getting the job they want that they end up saying or doing things against the employer that they may regret someday.
Let me share with you a reply from a very disappointed applicant as he answered the email from the employer stating that “his profile didn’t match with the requirement.”

It is really funny to see how he reacted against the employer and how he composed his message. By the way, this guy was applying for a Project/Construction Manager position.
Let us keep our composure no matter what. It is always possible that some employers might call us again to give us another shot. (I am not sure though with this applicant we just mentioned.) Otherwise, we may see ourselves ending up being featured in a blog.
