The DFA or Department of Foreign Affairs will start to accept online passport applications starting August 26.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis but initially can only issue 100 ePassports daily until the ePassport system has achieved full capacity. From August 26 to September 30, only passport applications for renewal will be accepted by the DFA.

Here are some important notes for applying for an ePassport online:

  • Applicants should fill out all the required fields on the online appointment page at the DFA website. Otherwise, the online appointment process will not proceed.
  • The DFA will inform the prospective applicant of his or her schedule by e-mail after internal verification.
  • The applicant must confirm availability by sending a reply email in return.
  • The DFA also pointed out that applying for an ePassport online does not mean that an applicant need not make a personal appearance with the DFA.

Requirements for interested applicants:

* Old passport;
* One photocopy of old passport data page;
* Valid identification card; and
* The duly accomplished passport application form
