From 77 nominees that gained the most votes in an early round of polling, it is now down to only 28 finalists. The competition is now on the final phase of the global poll to choose the “New 7 Wonders of Nature.”
Among the 28 finalists is our very own Subterranean River National Park in the province of Palawan. Also included in the list are the Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef, the Amazon rain forest, the Dead Sea, Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Ecuador’s Galapagos islands, Azerbaijan’s Mud Volcanoes, Lebanon’s Jeita Grotto, Ireland’s Moher Cliffs and Germany’s Black Forest.
The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is located about 50 kilometers north of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The park has a limestone karst mountain landscape with an 8.2 kilometer navigable underground river. It also has major formations of stalactites and stalagmites, and several large chambers.
Please vote for the Philippine’s bet in the New 7 Wonders of Nature Poll. You can vote by Internet or phone. The winners will be announced in 2011.
The seven man-made wonders in 2007 were the Colosseum, Italy; the Great Wall of China; the Taj Mahal, India; Petra, Jordan; Christ the Redeemer Statue, Brazil; Machu Picchu, Peru; and the Pyramid at Chichen Itza, Mexico.

Hi,
We have developed a new way to promote travel to the Philippines and keep our OFWs informed on the places of interest in their own towns.
We just launched a free iPhone application on travel in the Philippines. Its a great way to discover the tourist attractions in the country. In the App Store, search – MY TRAVEL PHILIPPINES. There is also a web version where people can post new records, add photos, create their travel maps, comment and vote attractions and accommodation facilities. The URL is – http://www.mytravelphilippines.com
Its a collaboration between two friends based in the Philippines and Australia. I take care of building up the database here, Rupert de Guzman develops the programming. We are not getting any government support nor from private companies. As of now, its more of a passion to develop this kind of service to help make the Philippines increase its competitive exposure through the web and mobile devices (there are now about 80 million global users of iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad).
Thank you and warm regards,
Caloy Libosada
