Foreign students still believe that quality education can still be attained in Philippines and I fully agree with that. But what hurts me most is that more and more employers are starting to doubt the academic credentials of Filipinos, and even foreign students who studied in Philippines. Why?

It is because fake documents from Recto has gained universal attention. If one wants school credentials without spending years in class and thousands in fees, this is the place to go. Dubbed as the Recto University, you can earn a four-year or five-year degree course in just one or two hours by coming here.

Recto’s mastery in producing spurious documents has affected, not just OFWs with legit academic documents, but also foreigners who still believe in the education our country is offering and are currently studying in our country.

Here in Kuwait, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education has decided not to recognize certificates being issued by universities in the Philippines. The foreign students who are studying in Philippines protested because of the ministry’s decision. The ministry has decided that it will form a committee to look into the situation of the students studying in Philippines.

We can’t reason out that Philippines is not the only source of fake documents. This shouldn’t be happening after all. This hurts us Filipinos with legitimate education attainment and this will hurt everyone even more in years to come.

With the immense talents that we Filipinos have, we can’t deny that we can be the best in the world in making these fake and almost-original spurious documents. And we should not be proud of it. Instead, we should be greatly embarrassed.

I’m calling out all Filipinos not to support these establishments on Recto Avenue in Manila producing fake diplomas, transcripts of records and other certificates and documents. Otherwise, we, Filipinos, will all suffer.
